What’s better than a hearty Sunday Roast to warm you up in the winter? If you’re looking for the best roast dinners in Bath, we have you covered for some stand-out food. The local pubs and restaurants of this medieval city serve up some brilliant roasts on Sunday’s - but we’ve picked out the best ones that are also reasonably priced. Succulent beef, crispy roast potatoes, flavoursome gravy and Yorkshire puddings; nothing beats a British roast dinner, especially when you’re in the beautiful Roman city of Bath surrounded by English countryside. Here are our favourites (including Bath’s best vegan roast dinner)...
THE HUNTSMAN
The Huntsman is beautiful Georgian pub right in the centre of the city. Being one of Bath’s oldest pubs means the interior is beautifully old but well maintained with modern finishes to give it a more contemporary but cosy feel. Here you can expect a high quality roast dinner. The beef is perfectly cooked, juicy and melt-in-the-mouth accompanied by beautifully cooked vegetables and massive Yorkshire puds. Plus the portions are huge. The ambience is lovely with candle-lit tables, a cosy fireplace and wooden floors - the upstairs makes for a brighter, more airy atmosphere compared to downstairs which is more old country pub vibes.
THE OLD CROWN
The Old Crown has been a Bath local in the village of Weston for over 300 years, so you know you’re onto a winning roast if you choose to eat at this one. In an authentic, British setting with a modern flair, choose your Sunday roast feast from one of three options: chicken, pork or beef. Whatever you choose will be accompanied by honey roasted vegetables, crispy roast potatoes, one giant Yorkshire pudding and, of course, lashings of delicious gravy. Each and every ingredient is locally sourced and will be delivered on a plate to your table looking perfect and tasting succulent, crispy and fresh. End a perfect Sunday roast with an old English classic, sticky toffee pudding. For a plate of real, hearty goodness to top off your weekend in Bath, The Old Crown is an ideal choice.
NEWTOWN FARM SHOP & CAFE
There’s a reason people come from miles away to try a Newton Farm Shop Sunday roast, as it’s unlikely you’ll find a fresher or better quality roast dinner than from the Newton Saint Loe farm. The food is all locally sourced if it’s not reared on site, and it’s cooked to sheer perfection. Opt for the Rare Roast Rump of Newton beef with Yorkshire pudding, the Newton Farm Roast pork with homemade applesauce, or the Roast Free-Range Chicken with seriously tasty homemade stuffing. Whatever you decide on, you can expect succulent meat, seasoned veggies and incredibly generous portions each and every time. Make sure you book in advance as this place is always rammed!
