1. THE ANDOVER ARMS
This traditional Victorian neighbourhood pub is a local favourite in Hammersmith and definitely one of the area’s hidden gems. This quaint pub is particularly popular on Sundays, because the kitchen serves up one of the best affordable Sunday roasts in the whole of London, not just in the local area. The Andover Arms roast dinner consists of your choice of meat and all the delicious trimmings including crispy roast potatoes, roast veggies and a rich tasty gravy. Huge portions from £13.25.
Get a cosy table near the real fireplace and tuck into one of London’s best roasts. The Andover Arms is also featured in the Good Beer Guide, so we recommend ordering an ale here too if you’re a beer fan. On Sundays, the pub is open from 12pm - 12am.
2. THE DARTMOUTH CASTLE
This is one of our favourite traditional gastropubs in Hammersmith because the service is absolutely amazing and it boasts a delightful ambience to enjoy your Sunday Roast in. The Dartmouth Castle is just a short stroll from Hammersmith Broadway and while it’s a little bit pricey, the food is sure worth it. The light airy interior and modern design makes this pub the perfect combination between contemporary and traditional.
On the Sunday Roast menu, you have a choice between a roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding and horseradish (£18), or roast corn fed chicken with bread sauce (£17) and lastly roast succulent pork belly with apple sauce and crackling (£17). All three roasts come topped with roast potatoes, greens, carrots and a red wine jus. So delicious, it’s hard to choose which one to go for...
3. THE STONEMASONS ARMS
A vibrant Fuller’s pub right in the heart of Hammersmith. The Stonemasons Arms is a really great choice of pub for your Sunday Roast because not only is it affordable, the staff are also super friendly which is why you see so many regulars enjoying a beer at the bar. The Sunday Roast is pretty good too: you can choose from Roast chicken, Roast Hampshire Beef or Hampshire Pork Belly. We love how cauliflower cheese is an accompaniment to The Stonemasons Arms roast, too.
This pub is also vegetarian friendly so if you’re looking for a meat free Roast you can enjoy the butternut squash, spinach and feta Wellington, served with all of the traditional roast trimmings. The kitchen cooks with seasonal, local produce throughout the week so we also recommend checking out their weekly menu.
4. THE HARWOOD ARMS
Two words sum up this place. Quality Food. The Harwood Arms in Fulham, just on the border of Hammersmith, is no doubt one of our favourite places for high quality fodder in West London. Boasting a more sophisticated menu, this more upscale pub & restaurant sure knows how to serve up a Sunday roast that goes further than your usual pub grub. Not only will your food come beautifully presented, it will also taste incredible. The Harwood Arms serves its roast with Roast sirloin of 45 aged Hereford beef with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese croquettes, horseradish cream, root vegetables, bone marrow gravy and green beans. If that’s not an epic roast dinner plate, I don’t know what is. You simply must try their famous scotch eggs too.
Once you get cosy inside the Harwood Arms it’s hard to leave because the interior is bright, modern and boasts a really easy going atmosphere which is why it’s one of Fulham’s popular pubs for young working adults. While it’s a little more expensive roast option on this list, if you’re going to treat yourself to one of the best roasts in London then this is up there.
5. THE CRABTREE
This cosy little pub tucked away just off the Hammersmith Riverside is a great option for a long Summer Sunday lunch with friends or family. The cool thing about this pub is that you can enjoy your Sunday Roast on the outdoor terrace that looks over the river. The pretty riverside garden is always full in the summer with customers enjoying the sunshine, gin and tonics and great food whilst soaking up that view of the Thames. Could alfresco dining get any better?
From £16.50 - £18 you can enjoy your roast with either Yorkshire barn reared chicken, Gloucester Old Spot pork belly, 28 day aged rump cap of Angus Beef or a veggie-option which is Courgette & Parmesan Wellington. Each of these comes with delicious traditional accompaniments. Make sure to book ahead if you want a table outside.
